| What is a
Giclee? Giclee (pronounced Jee
Clay), from the French for little squirt.
A
giclee print is a piece of printed
artwork produced by using a high quality digital
Inkjet Printer. Extremely fine droplets of ink
are spurted onto heavy paper or artists canvas.
These droplets can be controlled by computer so
that the resolution of the printed image is much
finer than conventional printing. We use the
Epson 2000P for the production of our
Giclees, this printer offers 6 Color
Printing using Permanent Archival Inks with
a durability of upto 200 years. In conjunction
with this we use Archival quality papers to give
the very best overall result.
The
Archival Semi-Gloss paper which we use is
67lbs/ream and has a lifetime of upto 140 years.
It is recommended that in order to achieve that
longest life of your print and minimize any color
change, your print should be displayed behind
glass in a frame and away from direct sunlight.
Giclee
prints have become very popular in the USA. It is
estimated that upto perhaps 80% of all new Art is
being reproduced using Giclee Techniques. The
benefits for collectors are the wonderful
quality, stability and fidelity of Giclee Prints.
